Data Backup: Backup Now

post time 23. June 2008 member admin

Backup Now is a powerful software suite for all your computer backup needs. Its manufactured by NTI, which stands for NewTech Infosystems. They have been an innovator in the field of computer backups and burning for years, and it really shows in the quality of their software.

Backup Now is just one piece of software NTI offers, but its one of their bestsellers, and for a good reason. It allows you to quickly and easily backup any files onto CD or DVD, and even supports rewriteable media. This means that if you want to backup the same files fairly often, you dont have to use a new CD or DVD every time, saving you money in the long run.

Backup Now Deluxe Software Suite
With Backup Now, you have the option of backing up one CD or DVDs worth of files, or if you have a larger amount of data to store, you can have it spread out among several CDs or DVDs. This means there are no restrictions on the amount of data you can backup, which is a good thing, considering the average hard drive size nowadays. The program can even compress your data up to 1.2GB per CD, which is almost twice the normal capacity.

Backup Now even has remote access built in, so you can backup or burn your important data no matter where you are in the world. Using the Internet, you can login to your software and with the proper passwords quickly backup any important information you may want to keep safe. Its quick, easy and secure. Backing up your computer files has never been as easy as it is with Backup Now.

Data Backup: Data Backup Software

post time 22. June 2008 member admin

If you, like many users around the country, are connected to the Internet 24/7 you should seriously consider using data backup software for your personal computers. Every year more and more virii and other nasty files find their way onto your hard drive, wreaking havoc wherever they go.

Data backup software can be the most important piece of software you will ever use. You dont want to have to worry about losing important documents such as your families financial records, presentations for work, or even personal files such as photographs that you have collected throughout the years. Imagine trying to recover from a hard drive failure and never being able to have those files again.

Data Backup Software Solutions
There is a wide variety of data backup software available today, and as the years go by they get more and more sophisticated and user friendly. The simplest data backup software would be mirroring software that basically keeps the same data thats on your working hard drive, on a separate hard drive, so if one drive breaks down the other one is still there for you to use any time you wish.

Of course this is not the only data backup software solution out there. A simple mirroring program will save your data on your personal hard drive, but what if you have a lot of data that you need to secure for many years? Consider setting up a RAID array for your home business. A properly configured RAID array can save you a whole lot of time and money.

Data Backup: Computer Storage Devices

post time 21. June 2008 member admin

Computer storage devices have come a long way over the years. With computers constantly evolving and improving, its necessary to have storage devices that are on par with current technology. Its no good have an 80GB hard drive if you only have a 1.4MB floppy disk to transport files around with. Computer storage devices have a long and colorful history, from the floppy disk to the DVD.

The first realistic storage device was the 5.25 floppy disk. It was a double-sided disk, and held around 1.2MB of data on the two sides. Because of how it used both sides of the disk, it was often referred to as a double density disk. Floppy disks took a major step forward when the 3.5 floppy disk was introduced. It held 1.4MB of information, but was much more compact, and not at all floppy like its predecessor.

Todays Computer Storage Devices
Even the 3.5 disks became quickly dated, as computer users needed ways to store bigger amounts of data, and were quickly finding their floppy disks piling up in large stacks. The analog tape drive came along, and offered a fairly large capacity in comparison, but was quite slow and would often take hours to fill up. When Zip disks came out, they were quickly embraced by computer users because of their ability to store up to 750MB of data, and their quick write times.

Computer storage devices were affected the most when CD burners were introduced however. This gave computer users the ability to burn their own CDs of up to 650MB, which were much smaller than zip disks, and could be read in any standard CD-ROM drive. The newest craze now is DVD burning, as a single DVD can hold 4.7GB of information. Judging by history, it wont be too long before another new format comes out, but for now you shouldnt have any trouble backing up your data with any number of the above methods.

Data Backup: Synchronize Files

post time 20. June 2008 member admin

File synchronization has become a necessity in todays business world. With so many people needing access to the latest information it is clear that manually updating the information on each system is simply too cumbersome. Software suites have been developed that allow you to share data quickly and efficiently with nearly no intervention required.

File synchronization Explained
File synchronization is the method used by specialized software to alter the data on every selected system as it is edited or modified by other users. Syncing a file is done by overwriting any out of date versions found. You can set the software to only monitor select files, or entire folders and systems.

Lets say youre using a database with a lot of client information, and several people deal with the same clients. If one person speaks to the client and gets a new telephone number or email address, that data is vital to the other employees as well. If you enter that information and it doesnt get to the others then thats a waste and a serious problem because it limits communication. Thats only one example of why file synchronization is so important.

Protecting Data as it Syncs
One of the biggest concerns facing business today is data theft. If so much as one stray hacker gains access to client information then there is the potential for identity theft, credit card information theft, and a whole host of other terrible problems. If you are syncing data across the Internet or even your own network you want to protect that data. The good news is that new synchronization software comes with encryption procedures to make it virtually impossible for your data to be stolen.

Backing Up and Recovering Lost Information
Backing up your data is also a major consideration when dealing with a lot of information. While system meltdowns are rare, they do happen. Being unprepared for one will destroy your business, no questions asked. Backing up your data is the only way to insure you can recover from a catastrophic loss.

Data backups are handled by having one or more hard drives devoted to storing all data that is updated throughout the system. This information is kept separate from the rest of the system to help protect it from the types of cascading failures systems can suffer. Once you have rebooted your systems you can then use the backup software to reinstall any lost data.

Mirroring as a Means to Increase Data Availability
Mirroring your data is one of the best methods to make your information available without having to increase your own bandwidth costs. This is only true if you use an independent server for your mirroring. If you mirror internally you still need to pay for the bandwidth you use, but the costs will still be lower than trying to constantly upgrade your own server with higher yields.

The nice thing about mirroring is how versatile it is. You can mirror files, folders or even entire servers. This is especially useful if you have several servers around the world with people constantly modifying data. Mirroring the data lets your staff grab what they need when they need it instead of having to contend with the resource demands that such synchronization would inevitably require.

Data Backup: File Replication

post time 19. June 2008 member admin

Do you and a number of other people in your company all deal with the same set of files throughout the day? How do you know someone else on your staff hasnt made changes to the files you need? If you use file synchronization software everyone will constantly have access to the most current version of the files you need.

The Importance of File Synchronization
File synchronization software updates the files you use every time theyre modified. This prevents from people doubling up on changes and allows everyone to know the progress they are making in real time. Now you can spend less time creating backups and more time being productive.

File synchronization software dramatically reduces the time spent housekeeping. In the past it was necessary to back up all of your changes to disk and physically transport updated files from system to system. File synchronization software monitors selected files for changes and automatically updates sister files throughout the network.

File synchronization and replication software automatically transfers files throughout the network according to your specifications. Do you want certain files to appear only on certain systems? You can tell the software to monitor file access as well as instruct it to include new systems whenever you want.
